The Darjeeling Limited: Review

I want to start off by saying that I have NO clue, whatsoever, of what will be nominated for this years Academy Award for Best Picture. I'm not saying there haven't been any good movies this year, but as of yet, nothing has really stood out. Until now.

Second order of business. There were only two trailers before the film. Both looked like really good films.

O' Jerusalem: The story of two friends, and how they are separated after the birth of the State of Israel.

Juno: A comedy about a teenage girl who gets pregnant.

Now, to the film at hand.

I have not seen any of Wes Anderson's previous films. Don't worry, I will get around to it. But I must say, this movie was pretty damn good.
Darjeeling tells the story of three brothers, who reunite on a train in India, that bares the title of the film. The three brothers have not communicated since the death of their father, one year ago. The brothers consist of Francis (Owen Wilson), who was just in a tragic accident, Peter (Adrien Brody), who is expecting a child at home, and Jack (Jason Schwartzman), who hasn't been in America for a year.
Francis is hoping that this will be a spiritual journey for all the brothers, as they ride the train, and visit their mother, unbeknown to Peter and Jack.
What I really liked about the movie was the fabulous art direction. The look of the whole movie is fantastic, and is a treat for the eyes.
Each of the brothers, Wilson, Brody, and Schwartzman, give uniquely spectacular performances. Each of them have these little quirks about them, that you just have to see for yourself. I wouldn't do the film justice if I just wrote them down.
If you get the chance, please see this film. It's the only film as of yet that I would consider for Best Picture. The only other promising film that could be nominated, but probably won't be, would be Sweeney Todd.

Fingers crossed.
