I once again ventured back into the land of "Spring Awakening," the Tony-Award winning musical, for the second time. Pretty damn good.
Jonathan Groff wasn't there tonight, but his understudy, his name escapes me at the moment, was very good. John Gallagher Jr. was excellent as always, and the new ensemble is excellent as well.
I don't know if it's just me, but it feels like the shows been dragged out a lot more. Maybe it's because of the Tony. Shwatever.
-Part Three of Imaginationland was tonight. Thank G-d for TiVo!
Only two more days til the dreaded "Bee Movie" arrives.
G-d help us. G-d help us all.

Dumbledore is Gay
And I don't mean that in the insulting way, I mean that he has actually been outed!
What does J.K Rowling have to gain from this? I have nothing against homosexuals, but a fictional dead wizard whose book series has ended? There's no point!! I never liked Harry Potter in the first place, and now I'm even more put off then ever!
- It's Halloween tomorrow! I'm seeing Spring Awakening for the second time to celebrate the occasion. You may not think it's a scary show, but the fact that it won the Tony for Best Book, THAT'S scary!
-Les Miz is FINALLY closing. Not that it's a bad show, but it was more of a clone, than a revival.

Broadway Abridged
Although in the past I have not been that kind to BroadwayAbridged.com, I must say the new "abridged" script of "Rock 'n' Roll," the most probably intellectually superior new play by Tom Stoppard, is utterly hilarious.
And Gil Varod, if you're reading this, sorry about calling you unfunny in that email I sent you.
-If you haven't seen Part Two of Imaginationland yet, find it and watch it IMMEDIATELY!!

Imaginationland!
For those out there who watch South Park, tonights episode was pretty good.
Not a lot of jokes, but the whole concept was very funny.
And there's a cliffhanger, so that's always fun.

Baseball Commercial!
I just saw a commercial for the new baseball season, or something. And it was being narrated by Dane Cook.
Um, Why? What does Dane "I was kinda funny two years ago, but now I think I'm so cool and can act in movies, and record singles and anything else I wanna do" Cook have to do with baseball?
Zilch, that's what!

Broadway Season: '07-08
Just for the fun of it, I'm giving you all out there a special preview at the upcoming Broadway Season, both musicals and plays, along with my opinions on whether they will be good or not. Here we go;
What has already opened this season:
Xanadu: Although I've already reviewed it, I must once again say that this is such a great show!
Grease (revival): From what I've heard, it's crap. Probably true.
Mauritius: A play about a stamp collection. How could it NOT be good?
The Ritz (revival): Gay bathhouses, mobsters, and Rosie Perez. I smell a Tony.
Upcoming:
Pygmalion (revival): It's "My Fair Lady" without the music. Fun Fun Fun.
A Bronx Tale: Chazz Palminteri brings his one-man show to Broadway. Might appeal to some. Not to me.
Cyrano de Bergerac (revival): What could be more fun than Kevin Kline with a big nose?
Rock 'n' Roll: The new play from Tom Stoppard. Lets pray that it's not 9 hours again.
Young Frankenstein: The new Mel Brooks musical, based on the movie. The blockbuster of the season. Fingers crossed.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (revival): I saw it last year, and it's cute. Great for the little ones, and it won't bore the adults.
The Farnsworth Invention: It's Tv. On Broadway!
The Seafarer: Sounds kinda cool. Something about Irish people, and a card game.
August: Osage Country: I'm not really a "play" person. So,yeah, not that interested.
Is He Dead?: A new Mark Twain play. Thats right. America's favorite humorist is back from the dead to bring us comedy at its finest.
Cymbeline (revival): Shakespeare at Lincoln Theater. Yawn.
The Little Mermaid: One of the greatest animated films of all time is now a musical. From what I've heard, the costumes are horrible, and the second act has a singing contest. Curse you, Disney!!
This is as far ahead as I'm gonna go. You don't have to listen to some of my criticisms if you don't want to. Shwatever.
Peace Y'all.

The Darjeeling Limited: Review
I want to start off by saying that I have NO clue, whatsoever, of what will be nominated for this years Academy Award for Best Picture. I'm not saying there haven't been any good movies this year, but as of yet, nothing has really stood out. Until now.
Second order of business. There were only two trailers before the film. Both looked like really good films.
O' Jerusalem: The story of two friends, and how they are separated after the birth of the State of Israel.
Juno: A comedy about a teenage girl who gets pregnant.
Now, to the film at hand.
I have not seen any of Wes Anderson's previous films. Don't worry, I will get around to it. But I must say, this movie was pretty damn good.
Darjeeling tells the story of three brothers, who reunite on a train in India, that bares the title of the film. The three brothers have not communicated since the death of their father, one year ago. The brothers consist of Francis (Owen Wilson), who was just in a tragic accident, Peter (Adrien Brody), who is expecting a child at home, and Jack (Jason Schwartzman), who hasn't been in America for a year.
Francis is hoping that this will be a spiritual journey for all the brothers, as they ride the train, and visit their mother, unbeknown to Peter and Jack.
What I really liked about the movie was the fabulous art direction. The look of the whole movie is fantastic, and is a treat for the eyes.
Each of the brothers, Wilson, Brody, and Schwartzman, give uniquely spectacular performances. Each of them have these little quirks about them, that you just have to see for yourself. I wouldn't do the film justice if I just wrote them down.
If you get the chance, please see this film. It's the only film as of yet that I would consider for Best Picture. The only other promising film that could be nominated, but probably won't be, would be Sweeney Todd.
Fingers crossed.

Xanadu: The Musical Review!
After my thoughts on Legally Blonde, I thought it would be nice to share with you my thoughts on a GOOD show, Xanadu!
I have seen the original movie that this stage show is based on.
The movie is crap.
The stage show is fantastic.
Every member of the cast is outstanding in their own way. Kerry Butler is hilarious, and her fake Australian accent brings down the house. When I saw it, Cheyenne Jackson was out, but his understudy, Curtis Holbrook, was pretty good as well. Tony Roberts was spectacular. Jackie Hoffman was hilarious!
And Mary Testa, well, she was the best part of the show. But, if you're reading this Mary, you owe me a photograph!!!
If you have the chance, you should definitely see this show!

Movie Tomorrow!
Tomorrow, Sunday October 14 2007, I will be seeing "The Darjeeling Limited," The only good movie showing nearby to where I live. I know this contradicts my last post, but i just remembered it. And its only showing at a really small cinema called Malverne. For those of you who don't know, "The Darjeeling Limited" is the latest film from director Wes Anderson, of "The Royal Tenenbaums" fame.
I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.
Later.

Introduction- Who am I?
What' up Cyberland!
This is The Drowsy Kaye. As of this post, there is nothing good showing at the local cinemas, and the official Broadway season hasn't really started yet. For those of you who don't know, I am a big fan of musical theater, among other things. I will be typing my opinions on various aspects of the entertainment world, mainly theatre, movies, and Tv.
My first topic; Legally Blonde: The Musical.
The "geniuses" at MTV decided that the perfect way to raise box office sales would be to AIR THE ENTIRE SHOW ON TELEVISION! WHILE the show is STILL showing on Broadway! These must be the same people people who thought of this disaster of a show. The only good things about this show are Christian Borle, and Michael Rupert. The score is catchy, in an annoying way. The book is really corny. And the source material wasn't really screaming "MUSICAL!" I'm watching it at the moment, Tivo, and it really does suck.
I hope there are a lot of you reading out there. I would really appreciate it if you guys out there would share with me your opinions on this blog. Thanks a bunch!
More to come......
